Thank you for stopping by. We
have had dairy goats since 1996, but it wasn't until 1998 that we actively
started breeding them. We breed for
large, powerful does who are structurally correct, have strong mammaries being high in
the rear with strong medials, good teat size and placement as well as a good,
steady lactation curve.
Our animals have been on standard DHIA testing for the past two years and we are
proud to say that every animal in our herd made their milking star.
Before using
this testing method, our animals earned their milking stars at one day milking
competitions. This past year we also had a doe make the Top Ten list,
she is Little Bic's Illiad 2*M, and we are so
proud of her.
All of our animals are raised on a CAE prevention program with the kids
being fed heat treated colostrom and pasteurized milk. They are also
raised away from the adult goats. We feed high quality alfalfa,
oat/pasture mix, a 18% dairy ration and almond hulls as treats. All of
the animals are wormed at least three times a year, vaccinated, given Bo-Se
and any other supplements important to their health.
If you have any questions about our herd or a particular animal, please call
or write.
Thanks again,
Caprine Lake Nubians
